Dog Training Collar

Many people question is a dog training collar effective method to train a dog? I suggest that positive build-up and behavioral instructions can work just as well as training collars do.

As we all know, the training of a dog is much essential. By using a choke collar, dogs understand things more naturally, and it also makes things much easier for us. Besides these simple collars, there are some remote collars for the proper guidance of a dog. In this article, I will describe the importance of a dog’s training, and these collars thoroughly.

Usually, a dog electrical training collar band consists of two main parts.

A handheld transmitter is used to send a command or an electrical signal to the wireless collar receiver.

A wireless collar receiver is hanged with the dog’s neck, and it receives the specific command or signal forwarded by the transmitter.

The range of this dog training collar is about 700m to 900m, and it is an effective method to train a dog properly. Using training collars doesn’t need to be a negative encounter. Indeed training collars can enhance the positive training experience.

Using Dog Training Collar safely & effectively

There are some guidelines to use the dog training collar safely and effectively because only proper use of this collar can train your dog effectively. These guidelines are as follow:

Fit the collar into the dog’s neck properly

The first and the most crucial instruction to use the training collar is to know how to fit the wireless collar receiver into the dog’s neck for proper training. There are some rules to find whether the collar is tight or loose to the dog’s neck. These rules are as follow:

  1. First, confirm that the collar should be turned off.
  2. Your dog should be in a comfortable position.
  3. The collar should be restful to the dog.
  4. There should be one finger distance between the dog’s neck & the collar.
  5. Make sure that your dog is entirely agreeable with this collar.
  6. Don’t turn the collar on immediately after the attachment of the collar with the dog
  7. In the end, turn the collar on and command your dog as you want.

Set the tone & signal of the training collar

The second step is to set the tone and the stimulation of the training collar. First, find a place where there is minimum disturbance so that your dog will not be distracted anywhere and will feel comfortable and safe.

Make sure that the batteries of the transmitter and the receiver are fit correctly. Follow these rules to initiate your dog’s training through the training collar.

  • 1. Start the procedure by pressing the tone button on the transmitter.
  • 2. Spend as much time as you can with your dog, helping the dog to understand the tone.
  • 3. Press the tone button on the transmitter for 2 seconds.
  • 4. Reward your dog when he obeys your command.
  • 5. Vary the reward as much as you can.

To find out the recognition level of your dog, start with the lowest level of command than wait and look at the change in your dog’s behavior. If you didn’t see any change in your dog’s tone, then increase the command level gradually and now see the definite change in your dog’s behavior.

Start instructing the dog to rectify the wrong stimulations

Teach your dog some handy but straightforward commands like “sit,” “come,” “stay,” and “heel” through this training collar. Your dog will become able to understand your command through this collar, and you will handle him/her easily.

  1. Sit command.

It’s pretty simple to teach your dog, “sit command.” First, place a simple collar on your dog’s neck and attach the training leash with this simple collar. Now press the command button and use your other hand to guide your dog. Then give the “sit command.” Release the button when your dog sits. Reward your dog with food. To become usual with this command, play with your dog for a few minutes.

  1. Come command.

Now start teaching your dog, “come command.” For this: Hold the leash of your dog’s simple collar and the transmitter in your hand and then wait until your dog walks away. Then press the stimulation button and give the “come command” through your transmitter. Release the button until your dog comes towards you. After this, reward your dog with praise or a food treat.

  1. Stay command.

Want to teach your dog a “stay command.” First, make a spot or a circle where you want to keep your dog stayed. Put your dog into this circle. Don’t say anything until your dog is going to leave. When your dog tries to leave, press the stimulation button, and give your dog a “stay command” through your transmitter. When he remains in his spot, allow him to move freely then reward him with a food treat or verbal praise.

  1. Quiet command.

What is the reason that your dog barks excessively and doesn’t keep quiet? There are some reasons due to which your dog barks excessively. Either it can be a threat or he/she wants to say hello to you. But you can solve this problem by teaching your dog a “quiet command.”

Use this command only when your dog barks excessively.

When he/she start barking, press the stimulation button and give your dog “quiet command.” If the dog doesn’t respond and continues barking, increase the recognition level, and then try again. Praise your dog when he/she stops barking.

By using all these guidelines and by using an appropriate training collar like a choke collar, you can train your dog impressively and teach him/her a lot of commands.
